Doctors at Work – NHS Grampian Placements
An opportunity to experience the Working Environment of a Doctor within NHS Grampian.
NHS Grampian has developed placements for S5 students who are intending to make a UCAS application for Medicine for 2020 entry. The placement activities have been designed to give experience and understanding of the realities of the working life of a doctor within a major UK Hospital Trust.
Given that applicants should have undertaken personal research into a career in Medicine prior to submission of their UCAS forms, the ‘Doctors at Work’ opportunities are offered to current S5 students who are intending to apply for Medicine in October 2019 for September 2020 entry.
Any pupil who intends to apply for Medicine and who wishes to apply for a medical work placement within NHS Grampian, should complete an application form and return it to Lisa Innes – DYW Co-Ordinator, Fraserburgh Academy before Thursday 21st March 2019. Application forms will be available to pick up from her office.
Work observation placements will then be planned from June up to mid August 2019 and will last for up to 4 days. Students will subsequently be contacted about the date of their placement.
•Only students who are estimated to achieve appropriate qualifications and who are committed to making an application for Medicine should be put forward.
•Several dates may be selected but only one placement per student will be offered.
•In the event of oversubscription to the programme, preference will be given to pupils who have not yet had an NHS Grampian work experience placement.
•Late applications will not be considered.
If you have any questions about the scheme please do not hesitate to contact Lisa Innes, DYW Co-Ordinator, Fraserburgh Academy on 01346 515771.
