National 5 Practical Woodworking

 

Three primary units of skills and ability are focussed on resulting in a number of projects.

FLAT-FRAME CONSTRUCTION – various tool and joint techniques to address the construction of framework projects.

CARCASE CONSTRUCTION – various tool and joint techniques to address the construction of boxed/carcase projects.

MACHINING & FINISHING – use of the lathe for turnery work as well as producing high quality finishes with varnish/oil/wax.

 

All of these skills are crucial in attempting the final assignment which is worth 70% of the final grade for National 5.

A written exam is also included for the remaining 30%.
