Scottish Schools Swimming Success
The Scottish School Swimming Championships were recently held at Tollcross International Swimming Pool in Glasgow on 25th January 2020. Fraserburgh Academy were delighted to have four of our pupils represent the school at this event – Malachi Skinner, Jake Gibson, Deimantas Janavicius and Emma Simpson. These swimmers along with others took part in trials held at Aberdeen Sports Village last year to qualify for swims at Tollcross. These swimmers qualified for the following swims – Malachi Skinner 100m Butterfly, Jake Gibson 200m Individual Medley and 200m Freestyle, Deimantas Janavicius 200m and 100m Freestyle and Emma Simpson, 200m and 100m Breaststroke. To reach the level of competition they were competing at takes lots of training both early morning, evenings and weekends together with hard work and dedication solely achieved by themselves as individuals. Needless to say the swimmers all displayed fantastic swims on the day. Well done to everyone but especially Jake Gibson who excelled in achieving a gold medal first place with his 200m Individual Medley and becoming the Scottish Schools Champion for Fraserburgh. Jake also achieved a silver medal for his 200m Freestyle.
